Cooking

After coming back to school from break the food here just does not hold up in any way, my stomach was feeling sick as I started running this afternoon. This idea was started when I realized that my biggest accomplishment this break was the fact that I chose, shopped for, and cooked all of my dinners. My dinners were: New Orleans Red Beans and Rice (family recipe), Stuffed Turkish Peppers, Enchiladas, Stuffed Burgers and fries, and regular Chicken with roasted potatoes.

It got me thinking that I really like cooking. Especially in this modern era when food come prepackaged and there is alternative health food craze I feel like home cooked meals are great. I am especially in favor of meals that edge people away from their comfort zone so they are no longer eating the same four foods over and over again. Anyways what I'm trying to say that cooking is fun and everyone should try their hand at it.

Crusader Kings II

Wow! Man do I love this game! While the Total War series is exactly that, a series about wars. This series is  about making your dynasty simply survive the test of time. You play a single character and from there you build your family. Some parts of it are historically accurate, but after the game starts it can all fall apart. Which is totally ok. It is not the most interesting game to watch but it is still amazing fun to plot against your enemies  The only downsides are as follows: the game is 40 bucks on steam right now which is still a lot of money plus all of the DLC is about another 20. My advice is simply to wait until it goes on sale.

I will be doing a "Lets Play" type thing as a particular family or dynasty. Literally pick any country in Europe in 1066 and I'll play them  if you want to make me muck around with French kings and what not(this includes the mideastern countries). If not I think I will be playing as the Byzantines.

Sleeping Giant

In southern CT where I live there are not a lot of truly breath taking hikes. There are interesting hikes, nature walks and walking paths but nothing that really makes you go "wow that's freaking sweet". Sleeping Giant on the other hand is well worth the drive if you are in the area.

Last Impressions: Dead Space

This is my full review of Dead Space 1, the survival horror-3rd person shooter, from Visceral games and published by EA.

Dead Space is advertised as a survival horror game but sadly does not live up to the potential scares as something like Slender does. On the other hand some of the game's mechanics can instill a real fear in the player. If I had to sum up Dead Space in a quick statement it would have to be: badly paced. A more detailed explanation of my pithy review after the jump.

JOBS!

Ah yes the job market in the states in recent years would be good. That is if you replace good with impossible difficult. This summer I decided that it was high time that I got a "big-boy job", a job that is more serious then retail or waiting tables. This whole task is really difficult; as I told my family there were 200 applications for a single entry level position. I have no idea what to do to make myself more "out there" for employers. We'll see how this goes, I have hope but at the same time this is super discouraging.

Sorry I'll get some real content up soon but this is the week before "spring" break and every professor seems to want to assign something.

NanoWriMo

So for the uninitiated NanoWriMo is a competition to write a novel of 50k words in the single month of November and while I did attempt it last year I did not make it past the first few thousand words. But this time I am going to try again and see where the mood takes me. This project will be ongoing a will be updated sporadically with bits of information about the world and possibly some story one off sections. Yes I know it is not November but I don't want to be constrained by a single month, also real life interrupts my writing process from time to time. Anyways some details and general statements about the project after the jump.
